Bucket List

It was a trip 10 years in the making wishing. For the last decade I have been dreaming of going to New York City, with the goal of doing nothing but BROADWAY! Did I mention that I was a theater nerd?? Like a lot of my dreams, I really didn't think that I would make if happen (I can be a bit lazy). However this year I decided that I would make a dream come true.

The Goal:
10 shows in 6 days

               Mission Accomplished!

On January 1st I flew from Dallas to NYC for 6 nights and in that trip I managed to fit in 9 Broadway shows and 1 Off Off Broadway show. Living the dream, Baby!

My Schedule:
Tuesday Jan 1 - Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (previews) @ the Richard Rogers Theatre at 7PM
Wednesday Jan 2 - matinee Once @ the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre at 2PM
Wednesday Jan 2 - The Mystery of Edwin Drood @ Studio 54 at 8PM
Thursday Jan 3 - Peter and the Starcatcher @ the Brooks Atkinson Theatre at 8PM
Friday Jan 4 - Newsies @ the Nederlander Theatre at 8PM
Saturday Jan 5 - matinee The Heiress @ the Walter Kerr Theatre at 2PM
Saturday Jan 6 - Nice Work if You Can Get It @ the Imperial Theatre at 8PM
Saturday Jan 6 - Sleep No More @ The McKittrick Hotel at 11:30PM (a theater "experience" Off Off B'way)
Sunday Jan 7 - matinee Evita @ the Marquis Theatre at 3PM
Sunday Jan 7 - Chaplin @ the Ethel Barrymore Theatre at 8PM (Closing Night/Actors Fund Performance)

So a show every night, three matinees, and one late-late show. In the coming weeks I will have reviews of every show, and theatre, recommendations and recollections, and then I'll move on to all the theater that I see in Dallas.

It was an incredible experience but it won't be a once in a lifetime trip, I have already decided that I have to try to make it back to NYC at least 2 weekends a year to see as many shows as I can. I figure I can consistently see 5 shows a weekend so hopefully this will tide me over until I can figure how to be a theater bum.
